AND NOW HERE IS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON INFLAMMATION AND FREE RADICALS: I want you to understand this concept and remember it: All serious disease starts with inflammation. And the free radicals that result cause immense damage to our bodies—they can kill healthy cells. So most of the damage from Atherosclerosis, and Cancer, and Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, and MS, and Diabetes, and pain-causing Arthritis—in other words all the major diseases—comes from free radicals. But it all starts with inflammation.
For instance, in heart disease caused by atherosclerosis, we now know cholesterol isn’t the problem. The problem begins with inflammation and the cholesterol comes to heal the damage. So when a blood clot breaks off, yes, there is cholesterol. But it didn’t cause the problem. Dr. Perlmutter tells us the same is true in the brain. Cholesterol is needed to heal the inflammation there and he believes that cholesterol-lowering drugs have led to significantly increased Alzheimer’s.
Inflammation is good—in small amounts. Any injury could not heal without inflammation. The process of healing injuries is inflammation. However, when the inflammation becomes chronic, it will inevitably lead to a more serious disease. And if not reversed to an even more serious disease. Until they become life-threatening.
